De 2024 AVA Chenin Blanc is een verfijnde en terroirgedreven Zuid-Afrikaanse Chenin Blanc afkomstig van wijngaarden in Kasteelberg en Riebeeksrivier op schist- en granietbodems. De wijn vergist spontaan en rijpt ongeveer elf maanden in gebruikte Franse eikenhouten vaten, foudre en beton, wat resulteert in een pure, precieze stijl met minimale houtinvloed. In de neus domineren aroma’s van hooi, kruiden, peer, kweepeer, witte perzik, citrus en een subtiele toets van honing en walnoot.
In de mond combineert de wijn concentratie en spanning met een brede, licht wasachtige textuur en levendige zuren. De stijl is momenteel eerder strak en gereserveerd dan expressief, met een lange, minerale en licht kruidige afdronk. De schistbodems zorgen voor zachtheid en geel fruit, terwijl de frisse vinificatie focus en elegantie brengt. Een stijlvolle Chenin Blanc met diepgang, precisie en uitstekend bewaarpotentieel.

Oxidation is remarkably stable in this vintage, giving the wine a restrained and controlled expression that will require time to evolve. Gorgeous yet currently reserved, it promises depth beneath its quiet exterior. The decomposed granite soils of Swartland often yield Chenin Blancs with both breadth and structure, yet in this case, the wine is deliberately held back, emphasizing tension over immediate generosity.
